A question about the nightlife....
Alright, I have been hearing conflicting reports based on a 17 yr olds ability to participate in events/activities such as entering bars / casinos etc...
I'm 17, and unfortunately will still be 17 during my stay on the island of Aruba... People say i look 19/21-ish and i'm wondering if the drinking/gambling age is really as lax as I have heard if the person in question looks to be above the right age.
I like to do research when i travel; best casinos, bars, nightclubs, etc... and i'm wondering if its worth even taking the time to do so...
Any input would be fantastic. Thanks.

From what I saw they werent very strict at most bars - I was there in the off season though so I think they were serving anyone who could see over the bar.I would think if one place won't serve you somewhere else may. You may run into problems somewhere like Senor Frogs where they have security posted at the front. Some of the smaller bars will almost certainly serve you.
No phony ID? I wouldn't have made it through my late teens without one - even though it was the worst one ever!

i am a mother
i am 54 yrs old
but as moderator of this site i am not allowed to chastise you for your paerticipation.
so speaking as moderator............ you have a better chance of being served liquor in aruba than you do of participating in gambling in one of the casinos.
my son was carded numerous times at many of the casinos even whenn he was 20.
never carded on obtaining liquor.
he is 23 now

I have son(s) your age and the bars are fairly lax if you look older. Oldest son looked 18 no problem when he was younger and never got asked. Second son looked younger than his actual years and did get asked many times in some of the bars. He got around that....use your imagination!!
In the casino, same rules apply as it does depend on how old you look. The problem at the casino would probably be if you won some big money and they asked you for ID.
happiness is going to Aruba with your adult kids because they still want to come with their parents

With or without gambling and drinking you will have a great time in Aruba - it is a great Island. Enjoy the sun and beaches!

Thanks for all the input and for the welcome Andrea.
I had a good time at Senor Frogs when I went to Cozumel but who knows maybe its more strict in Aruba.
No go on the fake ID =) normally if asked I just pull out my military ID and people leave me alone. I wear a high 'n tight so I think I'll be alright. Thanks again. And I look forward to my visit to Aruba and realize that this is not the only thing to do on the island, but it was one of my biggest questions =D

With military ID noone will bother you!
You'll be fine - just enjoy and relax!

...and you might want to try enjoying the vacation in Aruba on the natch...
That is, attempt to have a good time without getting all pi**ed up.
You never know, it might be worth it.
At any rate, do enjoy yourself, safely and
legally.
